Silicone Mould Box

A mould box for casting silicone moulds around an original: a base with a seat for the walls and four walls that slot together and come apart again, sized round your object.

Customise it in your browser, then download a print-ready STL, or a multi-colour 3MF. No CAD skills needed.

About the Silicone Mould Box

A box for pouring silicone round an original to make a mould for resin, soap, wax, clay or plaster. Glue the original to the base, slot the four walls together round it, seal the seams and pour. The walls slide apart again afterwards to free the cured mould. Sized round your object with the gap you choose.

What you can change

  • Pick its colour.
  • Adjust original: length, original: width, original: height and silicone round the sides, and more.

What you download

An STL or 3MF for any slicer.

Printing it

Prints flat with no supports. Glue the original to the middle of the base, slide the walls together, and run a bead of hot glue or plasticine round the outside seams so nothing leaks. Silicone doesn’t stick to PLA or PETG, but a release spray makes coming apart easier.

Ideas for using it

  • Moulds for resin charms and keyrings.
  • A soap bar mould from a favourite shape.
  • Copying a small part or ornament.

Questions

Will silicone stick to it?

Not to PLA or PETG, but a release spray (or a thin coat of petroleum jelly) makes it come apart more easily.

Does it leak?

The joints are a close fit, but run a bead of hot glue or plasticine round the outside of the seams before you pour.

Which printers and slicers does it work with?

Any FDM printer. The STL opens in every slicer; the 3MF keeps the colours as separate parts in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura. Pick your printer in the designer to check it fits the plate.

Can I sell what I make?

On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs, for as long as your membership is active: if it ends, stop selling them. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The STL and 3MF files themselves are never for sharing or selling.
