Clay Thickness Guides

Polymer clay thickness guides: flat strips exactly as thick as the clay should be, in pairs, so the roller rides on them for an even sheet. Any sizes, from 1 to 5 mm in halves by default, each engraved with its thickness and with a hole to hang the set.

Customise it in your browser, then download a print-ready STL, or a multi-colour 3MF. No CAD skills needed.

About the Clay Thickness Guides

Polymer clay thickness guides: flat strips exactly as thick as the clay should be, in pairs, one either side of the clay, so your roller rides on them and leaves an even sheet. Any sizes you like, from 1 to 5 mm in halves by default, each engraved with its thickness and with a hole to hang the set on a ring.

What you can change

  • Type your own thicknesses.
  • Pick its colour.
  • Adjust length, width and hanging hole.
  • Turn on or off: two of each.

What you download

An STL or 3MF for any slicer.

Printing it

Prints flat with no supports. The thickness is the print's height, so check your first layer: set "elephant's foot" compensation in the slicer, and measure one with calipers. Use a layer height that divides the sizes (0.1 or 0.25 mm for halves).

Ideas for using it

  • Even sheets for earrings and charms.
  • Thick, even slabs for coasters and trinket dishes.
  • Rolling fondant or cookie dough to a set thickness.

Questions

How accurate is the thickness?

It’s the print’s height, so it depends on your first layer. Turn on your slicer’s elephant’s foot compensation, print one and measure it; pick a layer height that divides your sizes (0.25 mm for halves).

Can I have just one of each?

Untick “Two of each” for a single strip per size.

Which printers and slicers does it work with?

Any FDM printer. The STL opens in every slicer; the 3MF keeps the colours as separate parts in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura. Pick your printer in the designer to check it fits the plate.

Can I sell what I make?

On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs, for as long as your membership is active: if it ends, stop selling them. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The STL and 3MF files themselves are never for sharing or selling.
