Texture Roller and Mat

A texture roller or flat mat for clay, fondant and cookie dough, in ribs, lines, tiles, bricks, diamonds or honeycomb. The roller is hollow for a dowel or pencil to roll it by; the mat has the pattern on top to press clay into. Set the size to suit your work.

Customise it in your browser, then download a print-ready STL, or a multi-colour 3MF. No CAD skills needed.

About the Texture Roller and Mat

A texture roller or a flat texture mat for clay, fondant and cookie dough, in the same patterns as our textured designs: ribs, lines, tiles, bricks, diamonds or honeycomb. The roller is hollow so a dowel or pencil goes through as a handle; the mat has the pattern on top to press into.

What you can change

  • Make a: roller and flat mat.
  • Pattern: ribbed, lines, tiles, bricks, diamonds and honeycomb.
  • Pick its colour.
  • Adjust roller diameter, roller length and hole through it.

What you download

An STL or 3MF for any slicer.

Printing it

Prints with no supports: the roller standing on its end, the mat flat with the pattern up. Dust the clay with cornflour (or the fondant with icing sugar) so it doesn't stick. For food, use a food-safe filament.

Ideas for using it

  • Textured polymer clay earrings and pendants.
  • A brick pattern for a fondant house cake.
  • Patterned cookie tops.

Questions

Which way does the pattern come out?

As its mirror image: ribs on the roller make grooves in the clay, and tiles make raised squares.

Does clay stick to it?

Dust the clay with cornflour, or fondant with icing sugar, first.

Which printers and slicers does it work with?

Any FDM printer. The STL opens in every slicer; the 3MF keeps the colours as separate parts in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura. Pick your printer in the designer to check it fits the plate.

Can I sell what I make?

On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs, for as long as your membership is active: if it ends, stop selling them. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The STL and 3MF files themselves are never for sharing or selling.
