About the Sewing Patterns
Simple sewing patterns sized to you and printed at home: a tote bag, a drawstring bag, a zip pouch, a scrunchie, a tie-on pet bandana, an envelope cushion cover or a half apron. The PDF has a test square, a cutting list and step-by-step instructions, then the full-size pattern pieces tiled over A4 or Letter pages to tape together, with the seam allowance included, a dashed sewing line, the grain and where to place them on the fold.

What you can change
- Make: tote bag, drawstring bag, zip pouch and scrunchie, and 3 more.
- Seam allowance: 1 cm, 1.5 cm, 3/8 inch and 5/8 inch.
- Paper: A4, A3, US Letter and US Tabloid.
- Adjust width, height, base depth and handle length.
- Turn on or off: lined.
What you download
A PDF to print on paper or card and cut out.
Printing it
Print at 100% (actual size, no “fit to page”) and check the test square measures 10 cm. Trim the pages on their grey lines where they join, tape them together, and cut out the pieces. The seam allowance is included; the dashed line is where to sew.
Ideas for using it
- A lined tote bag to fit your laptop or your library books.
- Drawstring gift bags in any size, instead of wrapping paper.
- A bandana made to your dog’s neck.
- Cushion covers to fit the cushions you already have.
Questions
Is the seam allowance included?
Yes: cut on the solid line and sew on the dashed one. Choose 1 cm, 1.5 cm, 3/8 inch or 5/8 inch.
How do the pages go together?
Each pattern page has a name (A1, A2…) and arrows to the pages it meets. Trim on the grey line where two pages join, lay them edge to edge and tape them.
Why aren’t the straps drawn?
Straps, ties and other plain strips are easier to measure straight onto the fabric, so they’re in the cutting list with their sizes.
How much fabric do I need?
Lay the pieces out on your fabric before you buy if you can; for most of these, a fat quarter to half a metre is plenty.
Can I sell what I make?
On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs, for as long as your membership is active: if it ends, stop selling them. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The PDF itself is never for sharing or selling.
