Name Stencils

Name and word stencils for painting signs, cakes, fabric and wood: the word cut through a thin plate, with bridges added so the middles of letters stay in.

Customise it in your browser, then download a print-ready STL, or a multi-colour 3MF. No CAD skills needed.

About the Name Stencils

Stencils of any word or name, cut through a thin plate. The middles of letters like O, A and R would fall out of an ordinary cut-out, so narrow bridges are added to hold them in, or choose the Stencil font, which has its own. Set the letter height, the border and the thickness.

What you can change

  • Type your own word or name.
  • Make one, or a whole batch at once: paste a list of names and get one each.
  • Font: 29 to choose from, from script to stencil.
  • Pick its colour.
  • Adjust letter height, bridge width, letter spacing and border, and more.
  • Turn on or off: hanging hole.

What you download

An STL or 3MF for any slicer.

Printing it

Prints flat with no supports. Thin (1 mm) stencils bend round curves and lie flat for painting; PETG is the most flexible and washes clean. Dab paint on with a sponge rather than brushing, so it doesn’t creep under the edges.

Ideas for using it

  • A shop or house sign painted on wood.
  • Names on cake tops with icing sugar.
  • Fabric bags and aprons with fabric paint.

Questions

How thick should it be?

1 mm bends round curves and lies flat; go thicker (2 mm) for a stencil you’ll use often on flat surfaces.

Is it safe for cakes?

Use a food-safe filament and wash it first, and only use it on top, for dusting icing sugar or cocoa.

Which printers and slicers does it work with?

Any FDM printer. The STL opens in every slicer; the 3MF keeps the colours as separate parts in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura. Pick your printer in the designer to check it fits the plate.

Can I sell what I make?

On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs, for as long as your membership is active: if it ends, stop selling them. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The STL and 3MF files themselves are never for sharing or selling.
