Pin Cushion Caddy

A pin cushion caddy: a cup for a fabric pin cushion with a ring that clamps the fabric in, or a magnetic dish that catches pins, plus holders for a seam ripper, small scissors and a marking pen. Set the size, and your magnet’s for the dish.

Customise it in your browser, then download a print-ready STL, or a multi-colour 3MF. No CAD skills needed.

About the Pin Cushion Caddy

A pin cushion caddy for the sewing table: either a cup for a fabric pin cushion (stuff a circle of fabric and press the ring down to clamp it in) or a shallow dish with a magnet hidden underneath that catches pins, with holders for a seam ripper, small scissors and a pen.

What you can change

  • Top: fabric cushion and magnetic pin dish.
  • Pick its colour.
  • Adjust cushion or dish diameter and ring fit.
  • Turn on or off: holders for ripper, scissors and pen.

What you download

An STL or 3MF for any slicer.

Printing it

Prints with no supports. For the cushion: cut a fabric circle about twice the cup's size, gather it round a ball of stuffing, push it into the cup and press the ring down over the fabric. For the dish: glue a magnet into the pocket underneath.

Ideas for using it

  • A pin cushion in fabric to match a sewing room.
  • A magnetic dish that catches dropped pins.
  • A gift set with a fat quarter.

Questions

How do I make the cushion?

Cut a fabric circle about twice the cup’s width, gather it round a ball of stuffing, push it into the cup and press the ring down over the fabric’s edge.

Which printers and slicers does it work with?

Any FDM printer. The STL opens in every slicer; the 3MF keeps the colours as separate parts in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura. Pick your printer in the designer to check it fits the plate.

Can I sell what I make?

On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs, for as long as your membership is active: if it ends, stop selling them. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The STL and 3MF files themselves are never for sharing or selling.
