Cross-Stitch, C2C and Knitting Charts

Turn a picture or a name into a stitch chart: cross-stitch with DMC thread matches, corner-to-corner crochet with the rows written out, or knitting colourwork drawn to your gauge. A key with stitch counts and amounts, symbols for black and white printing, and the chart over as many pages as it needs.

Customise it in your browser, then download a print-ready PDF to print at home. No design skills needed.

About the Cross-Stitch, C2C and Knitting Charts

Turn a picture or a name into a stitch chart: cross-stitch matched to DMC threads, corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet with every row written out, or knitting colourwork drawn to your gauge so it isn’t stretched. Choose how many stitches across and how many colours; stray single stitches can be tidied away to save colour changes. The PDF has a key with each colour’s symbol, stitch count and roughly how much thread or yarn it needs, then the chart over as many pages as it takes.

What you download

A PDF to print on paper or card and cut out.

Printing it

Print the PDF at 100%. Fewer colours and fewer stitches make an easier first project; tidying stray stitches saves a lot of colour changes. Pictures with clear shapes and strong contrast chart best.

Ideas for using it

  • A C2C baby blanket with the baby’s name.
  • Your pet’s photo as a cross-stitch.
  • A knitted jumper panel with an initial.
  • A family photo turned into a framed sampler.

Questions

What makes a good picture?

Clear shapes and strong contrast, cropped close to the subject. Start with fewer colours and stitches for an easier first project.

Are the DMC colours exact?

They’re the nearest matches to the picture’s colours; check them against a DMC shade card, as screens and printers vary.

How big will it be?

The key gives the finished size: for cross-stitch from the Aida count, for C2C from the yarn weight, and for knitting from your gauge.

Can I print it in black and white?

Yes: each colour has its own symbol in the squares, listed in the key.

Can I sell what I make?

On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs, for as long as your membership is active: if it ends, stop selling them. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The PDF itself is never for sharing or selling.
