Magic Santa Key

A big ornate key so Santa can get in when there's no chimney, with the name raised along the shaft and a star, snowflake, holly or heart bow.

Customise it in your browser, then download a print-ready STL, or a multi-colour 3MF. No CAD skills needed.

About the Magic Santa Key

A magic Santa key for homes without a chimney: hang it on the door on Christmas Eve so Father Christmas can let himself in. It’s a big ornate key with the child’s name along the shaft and a star, snowflake, holly or heart on the bow, to bring out every year.

Questions

What is a Santa key?

A Christmas Eve tradition for homes with no chimney (or a blocked-up one): a special key left on the door or by the tree, so Santa can get in. It’s a lovely way to reassure little ones.

Can I add more than one name?

Yes: make one key per child with a batch, or put the family name on one key.

When should I print it for Christmas?

Most of these print in an evening, but give yourself a week or two before Christmas for a whole family’s worth, a colour change or a reprint. If you’re posting them, print by mid-December.

What size is it?

About 13.1 × 5.8 × 0.4 cm (width × depth × height), one piece at the starting settings. Every size is a setting, so make it as big or small as you need.

Do I need a multi-colour printer?

No. Print it in one colour, or in colours with a filament change: the Colours line under the 3D view says at which height to change. With an AMS or another multi-colour printer, the 3MF prints it in one go.

Which printers and slicers does it work with?

Any FDM printer. The STL opens in every slicer; the 3MF keeps the colours as separate parts in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura. Pick your printer in the designer to check it fits the plate.

No 3D printer? Can you print it for me?

Yes. Buy it printed from our shop, with your names and colours from the designer, made to order in our UK studio.

Can I sell what I make?

On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The STL and 3MF files themselves are never for sharing or selling.
