Giant Pencil Case

A pencil case shaped like a giant sharpened pencil: a hexagonal body with a ferrule and eraser that holds pens, and a cap that's the sharpened wood and lead, with a name up one side if you like. No supports, no AMS.

Customise it in your browser, then download a print-ready STL, or a multi-colour 3MF. No CAD skills needed.

About the Giant Pencil Case

A pencil case shaped like a giant, freshly sharpened pencil: a hexagonal body with a ferrule and an eraser at its foot that holds pens and pencils, and a cap that’s the sharpened wood and the lead. A name can run up one flat, like the maker’s name on a real pencil.

What you can change

  • Type your own name up one side.
  • Make one, or a whole batch at once: paste a list of names and get one each.
  • Font: 31 to choose from, from script to stencil.
  • The name: pressed in and in its own colour.
  • Cap: snug: pushes on and stays and loose: lifts off easily.
  • All 5 colours are yours to pick.
  • Adjust across the flats and body, tall.

What you download

An STL for any slicer, and a 3MF with each colour as its own part, ready for an AMS or a filament change.

Printing it

No supports, and no AMS: the body prints standing on its threaded neck (a brim helps it stay put), so change filament where the paint starts; the eraser prints open side up, and the cap point up, with a change where the lead starts. Screw the eraser on, and push the cap on with its flats lined up with the body’s.

Questions

Do I need a multi-colour printer?

No. The body prints standing on its threaded neck, so change filament where the paint starts; the eraser prints on its own in red, and the cap prints point up, with a change where the lead starts. Only a name in its own colour needs one, as the flat it’s on stands up as it prints; pressed in, it doesn’t.

How does the cap stay on?

A short hexagonal sleeve inside it drops into the body, slit so it springs in, and the cap sits down on the body’s sloping rim. Line the flats up and push. Pick loose if you’d like it to lift off easily.

What’s in the eraser?

It screws off: under it is a little compartment, about 45 mm across, for a rubber and a pencil sharpener, kept apart from the pens by a floor.

How long a pen fits?

Pens up to about the body’s length, plus a little more under the cap: the inside of the cap is hollow too.

Does it need supports?

No. The cap’s underside is the steep inside of its cone, and everything else stands straight up.

Which printers and slicers does it work with?

Any FDM printer. The STL opens in every slicer; the 3MF keeps the colours as separate parts in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura. Pick your printer in the designer to check it fits the plate.

Can I sell what I make?

On Pro and Ultimate you can sell the prints you make, for example on Etsy or at craft fairs, for as long as your membership is active: if it ends, stop selling them. On Free and Maker, print it for yourself or give it as a gift. The STL and 3MF files themselves are never for sharing or selling.
